Leigh Barrett, a Wakefield native, is a beloved Boston based actor and singer. Although she received her Bachelor's degree in Opera and Voice Performance from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory in Ohio, she found her home on the musical theatre stage. She got her start on the ottoman in her parent's living room and anyone who came into the house got a show...complete with go-go boots and a jump rope microphone. Her first co-star was her little sister Sue who happily learned Leigh's complicated choreography (the very advanced step touch & turn around) complete with harmony.

From there she joined her church and high school choirs. Although she didn't really know what a "career" in singing was, she just knew she wanted to sing, so she followed her best friend to Ohio to major in Music Education. Scared off by a middle school choir and shop class (don't ask), she switched to Voice Performance. After graduation, she was cast in Little Shop of Horrors and she knew she had found her place.

In her extensive career, Leigh has worked with such companies as the New Repertory Theatre, The Lyric Stage Company of Boston, SpeakEasy Stage Company, Huntington Theatre Company, Stoneham Theatre, Reagle Music Theater, Wheelock Family Theatre, Gloucester Stage Company, Central Square Theatre, Moonbox Productions, Bridge Repertory Theater, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, and North Shore Music Theatre.

She recently made her professional Directorial debut with New Rep, and is currently launching her new production company, Redheaded Stepchild Productions. She is also a vocal coach, and a vocal wellness consultant in Reading Mass, where she resides with her husband and two sons. Leigh is a proud recipient of 2 Elliot Norton awards and 2 Independent Reviewers of New England (I.R.N.E) awards!
